Community

sby-web-classes-community1.jpg

One of the things that makes The SweatBox so special is our intention to personally connect with every student that practices here. This commitment to fostering community is why we have been a part of the Capitol Hill neighborhood for almost 20 years.

Many of our students are artists, musicians, performers and service industry folk, who have all been greatly impacted financially by Covid-19. To maintain our mission of supporting our SweatBox family, we want to connect you to your fellow yogis who have lost income and are in need. If you are able, please purchase their music, buy their art or donate directly to their Venmo account.

Lisa Marie Ottele

Lisa’s first class at The SweatBox was way back in 2008. She was born and raised in the Seattle area, so instead of going to NYC or LA after design school, Lisa decided to build her fashion label here. While her business is closed during the pandemic, she has used her talents to sew masks. To get yours, contact her via IG @lisamariestyle or Venmo her @lisa-Marie-45. The cost of the mask is by donation and she is passing 10% onto the Seattle Artist Relief Fund amid Covid-19.

John Criscitello

John began practicing with us in 2011 and though he moved to California in 2019, is still very much a part of The SweatBox family. John’s art is provocative, and his social commentary is brutally honest. You may have seen his poster art all over Capital Hill, such as “We came here to get away from you.” You can view and buy his art via IG @j.criscitello or website below.
